YANKEES 7
TWINS 6

Saturday Night in Minnesota, the Yankees won their 3rd straight game, as they defeated the Twins in 12 innings, 7-6. Chien-Ming Wang had a rocky game for the Yankees, but the offense and bullpen came through for the victory.

Chien-Ming Wang struggled, as he left his pitches very high in the zone. Wang gave up runs in each of the first three innings, and only lasted 5.1 innings, giving up 5 runs on 9 hits, while striking out four and walking three.
Edwar Ramirez could not hold the 6-5 lead, as he gave up a solo homerun, which was the first run he has given up all season.
Ross Ohlendorf picked up the win, as he pitched 2 scoreless innings, and struck out 4 Twins batters to keep the game tied. Mariano Rivera picked up the save.

The Yankees scored three times in the third inning, which included a Bobby Abreu RBI double, and Alex Rodriguez tied the game with a line drive over scoring two. In the sixth inning, Jose Molina delivered an RBI double to right, and then Melky Cabrera lifted a sacrifice fly to left, scoring the Yankees fifth run. Damon capped the inning with an RBI single, and the Yankees had a 6-3 lead.

In the 12th inning, Johnny Damon got on with a one-out hit and moved to third on a Derek Jeter single. Abreu followed with an RBI single up the middle to score the game’s winning run for the Yankees.

The Yanks will play game 3 of the 4 game set on Sunday afternoon, as Darrell Rasner will look to continue his hot pitching.
