YANKEES 6
BLUEJAYS 4

Monday night at the Stadium, the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 6-4. The victory was the 3rd straight for the Yankees, and they have won 5 out of 6 games since the All-Star break. Alex Rodriguez hit his league leading 32nd homerun of the season.

Kei Igawa pitched a career high 115 pitches pitches and struck out a season-high seven batters, in only 5 innings of work. Igawa left the game with the lead, but Scott Proctor would give it up in the 6th inning. After the Yankees took the lead, Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth inning for his 14th save.

The Yankees offensively got on the board in the second inning, with Hideki Matsui and Robinson Cano slugging solo home runs off Towers. Once again though, Andy Philips ended up being the hero for the Yankees, when Phillips’ two-out, two-run single off Toronto starter Josh Towers snapped a sixth-inning tie, helping lift the Yankees to a 6-4 victory. This is the second time this week that Andy Philips has lead the Yankees to victory.

The Yankees look to continue their winning ways Tuesday night, as Andy Pettitte takes on Roy Halladay.
