YANKEES 10
INDIANS 3

Chase Wright, in his first start as a Yankee, picked up a victory as the Yanks beat the Indians 10-3 at the stadium. Wright (1-0) gave up three runs on five hits and three walks, and he struck out three.

“I had some butterflies when I went out there,” Wright said, adding that he’d like another chance to start in Boston in five days. “I settled down after the first inning.” It helped that third baseman Alex Rodriguez continued his hot-hitting ways with a homer, single and three RBIs and that the home team slammed three home runs in a six-run second inning to take an 8-1 lead against an ineffective Jake Westbrook (0-2). Jorge Posada’s second homer of this season and the 200th of his career, ended Westbrooks night.

The bullpen had a solid night, pitching 4 innings, and giving up no hits and no runs. (Bruney, Myers, and Britton). Game 2 of the series willbe tomorrow night at the stadium. (Kei Igawa vs Jeremy Sowers).

GAME NOTES:

WRIGHT: Overcame early game jitters, and pitched a nice game. Gave the Yankees exactly what they needed out of him. (5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER).
A-ROD: 2-5, 3 RBI, HR
POSADA: 1-3, 3 RBI, HR
GIAMBI: 2-3

Yankees scalp Indians? What kind of headline is that? That’s shameful.
