YANKEES 4
WHITE SOX 6
Monday night in Chicago, the Yankees lost to the White Sox, 6-4. The Yanks were down 6-1 in the 9th inning, before staging a rally, cutting the lead to 6-4, with the tying run at the plate, but Jeter grounded out to short ending the game.
One day after an emotional win against the Red Sox, the Yankees could not feed off the momentum, as they dropped tonights game 6-4. Matt DeSalvo took the mound for the Yankees, and looked horrible. DeSalvo had no control, and his 4 hits and a walk led to an early 3 runs for Chicago. DeSalvo only lasted 1.1 innings, and was relieved by Ron Villone. Villone would go on to give up 2 runs, and Britton would give up 1 run in three innings work.
Offensively, the Yankees were quiet until the 9th inning. Robinson Cano had another strong game at the plate, and looked as if he has got his swing back, going 2 for 2. Derek Jeter had another bad game at the plate, going 0-5, including grounding out to end the game. Josh Phelps had a completely horrible game, as he grounded into 2 double plays, ending Yankee scoring chances, and he also threw a ball away on a potential doubl eplay, leading to Chicago runs.
Yankees will try to get back to winning Tuesday night, as they will throw another rookie, Tyler Clippard.
GAME NOTES:
CANO: 2-2
MATSUI: 2-4
ABREU: 1-2, RBI
