YANKEES 2
NY METS 3

Friday night at Shea stadium, the Yankees lost to the Mets 3-2. Andy Pettitte pitched well, but the Yankee offense was awful, yet again.

Pettitte (2-3) allowed a one-out sacrifice fly to Carlos Delgado in the first inning as the Mets opened the scoring before surrendering a homer to reserve outfielder Chavez in the sixth. Pettitte left after seven innings for a pinch-hitter, having scattered five hits in an 87-pitch performance. He allowed a walk and struck out four.

One again, Andy Pettitte pitches well enough to win, but the Yankees offense was nowhere to be found. The Yankees only 2 runs, came on a Hideki Matsui homerun in the 4th inning. Both Jorge Posada and Derek Jeter extended their current hitting streaks to 13 games in the loss, the Yankees’ sixth in their last eight games.

In case anyone hasn’t noticed… A-ROD is back to 2006, where he swings weakly at outside pitches and can’t drive a run in …. Abreu steps out of the box while swinging and doesnt come within 5 feet of an outside pitch, and when he does make contact, its a ground ball to second.
Asdie from Jeter and Posada …this team has been awful to watch at the plate lately.

The Yankees play game 2 tomorrow pitting: Darrell Rasner vs Tom Glavine.

GAME NOTES:
PETTITTE: 7 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 4 K
MATSUI: 2-4, HR
OFFENSE: SUCKED (6-31, 8K, 2 BB)

      Oliver Perez.

Are you kidding me. He was buried on the Pirates last year.

The guy was an emergency trade the Mets had to make, when another no name Met was out on the town in Miami and was injured in a car accident while taking a cab at 2:00 AM to find a Cuban restaurant.

      Oliver Perez??

The Yankees made Cy Perez look good tonight.

      I can’t believe this.

Now we have Rasner going up against a 300 game HOFer.

And Wang on short rest in a meaningless game Sunday, when I rather take my chances in Sunday’s game and throw Moose and Wang in games 1 and 2 against Boston.

      Oliver CY Young Perez.

      *Joe Beningo’s voice*

      UNBELIEVABLE!!

May 17 According to The New York Times and the Society for American Baseball Research, New York Yankees SS Derek Jeter singled in the first game of the May 16 doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox to give him hits in 92 of his past 100 games. No player in the 1900s has accomplished that feat. The last player to do it was Wee Willie Keeler, who hit in 93 of 100 games 1898 and 1899

I’m lovin’ your Offensive Game Notes, sporto. I, too, am at a loss for words.

And Vic, keep the stats coming in! It’s all we have to feel better about the fall of our evil empire…
