YANKEES 4
DEVIL RAYS 6

The Yankees bullpen blew yet another lead Tuesday night, as the Yanks fell to the Devil Rays 6-4 in Tampa. Mike Myers was tagged for a seventh-inning grand slam by Carl Crawford, which gave the Rays the lead for good.

The loss Tuesday night, marked the Yankees 5th loss in a row. The bullpen has been a major issue in this current losing streak. The good news is that Wang looked sharp in his first outing of the season. The right-hander went 6 1/3 innings and scattered nine hits, but allowed four earned runs. He walked none and fanned three in his first game back from the disabled list.

The offense did not look as great as it has in recent weeks…but at the same time, they did put up 4 runs and had the lead in the 7th inning. In Hideki Matsui’s return to the lineup, he hit a bomb. Matsui ended the night 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. His homer traveled an estimated 438 feet. Posada also had two hits and an RBI, and Josh Phelps drove in a run.

The loss dropped the Yankees overall record to 8-11. Yanks return to action tomorrow night at home, when they take on the Toronto Blue Jays. The pitching matchup pits, Andy Pettitte (1-0) vs A.J. Burnett (1-1).

GAME NOTES:

WANG: Pitched well in his first game back from the DL. (6.1 IP, 9H, 4 R, 3K)
MATSUI: 2-4, 2 RBI, HR
