YANKEES 10
WHITESOX 3
Despite Joe Torre pulling out Mike Mussina for some reason after only 79 pitches, the Yankees battled, and pulled away with a 10-3 win. The Yankees have now won 3 in a row, and took 3 of 4 in Chicago. Although Torre tried his hardest to lose the game: (Not starting Jeter OR Posada, pulling out Mussina after 79 pitches after only giving up 4 hits, and putting in Kyle Farnsworth), he picked up his 2,000th win as a manager.
Mike Mussina allowed a run and four hits with no walks over six innings. He received a no-decision. Mussina looked good in his outing, and did not plan on being pulled after only 79 pitches. Mussina sad after the game “I didn’t ask to come out..unfortunately I had no say in the matter”.
Abreu hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning, and then the Yankees poured it on in the 9th. The blow of the game, came on an Alex Rodriguez GRAND SLAM, which broke the game open, and gave the Yankees an 8-3 lead. Robinson Cano added an RBI double.
The Yankees will now start a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Yankee Stadium. This 3 game set, starts some games against the NL, and some very winable series for the Yankees.
