Tuesday night at the Stadium, the Yankees got bet badly, 12-2 by the Baltimore Orioles. The night marked the return of Alex Rodriguez to the lineup, and A-Rod hit a homerun. Mike Mussina got completely destroyed on the mound though, leading to a Yankee crushing.
Mike Mussina only lasted 2/3 of an inning, and left the game down 7-0 in the 1st. Although six of the runs are considered unearned, because they came after an error that would have ended the inning…. Mussina got rocked hard, giving up 5 hits and 2 walks in the 2/3 of an inning. Ross Ohlendorf gave up 3 runs in 3 innings, and then Veras gave up 2 runs in 1 inning. It was ugly all night!!
Offensively, the only bright spot was Alex rodriguez’ homerun in the 6th inning. The Yankees had 7 hits for the game, with Giambi and Abreu each having 2 hits a piece.
The Yankees will send Darrell Rasner to the mound Wednesday night in game 2.
