YANKEES 4
DEVIL RAYS 6

Friday night at Tropicana Filed, the Yankees dropped a 6-4 decision to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Roger Clemens took the loss, and the Yankees comeback efforts fell short.

Roger Clemens was touched for three runs in the second inning. The Rocket allowed a single, a double, a two-run triple and a walk before he escaped the frame, yet in a 3-0 hole. Clemens exited with one out in the sixth inning and five earned runs under his belt. He walked four and struck out two.

With the score 5-1 in the 7th inning, Damon’s sacrifice fly off of Casey Fossum scored Bobby Abreu to pull New York to within 5-2, and then in the 8th, down 6-2, Posada and Matsui hit their 10th and 12th long balls of the season, respectively, off Fossum for the final margin of 6-4.

The Yankees will return to action on Saturday Night, when Chien-Ming Wang takes on Andy Sonnastine.
