YANKEES 1
ORIOLES 6

Monday Afternoon was not a Memorial Day to “Remember” for the Yankees, as they got their winning streak snapped at 5 games. Darrell Rasner pitched another gem for the Yankees and kept the game at 1-0, but the bullpen failed to shut down the O’s late, and the offense took the day off.

Darrell Rasner continued his impressive pitching, as he charged with only one run on five hits, walking one and striking out three in a six inning performance. Rasner continues to be a positive in the rotation, and gave the Yankees his 4th straight quality start. Unfortunately, the Yankees are sticking with this stupid Joba as starter plan, which leaves them with no bullpen. LaTroy Hawkins and Jose Veras came in and ended any chance of a Yankee win, as Hawkins was charged with three runs, and Veras served up a long homer to Aubrey Huff, to end up in a 6-1 loss.

Offensively, the Yankees gave no support to Rasner, as they had no runs on the board, until the score was 6-0 in the 9th inning. Hideki Matsui stroked his third hit of the game off reliever Jamie Walker and then scored on Chad Moeller’s two-out RBI single to left.

The Yankees will send Ian Kennedy to the mound on Tuesday, and hope for the best, and hopefully for some offense.

GAME NOTES:
RASNER: 6IP, 5H, 1ER, 3SO
MATSUI: 3-4
