Tuesday night in Toronto, the Yankees fell to the Blue Jays, 2-1. Darrell Rasners brilliant pitching performance was wasted, as he only gave up 3 hits and 1 run, but the Yankees could not score. Johnny Damon dropped a fly ball (his second drop of the night), to give the Jays the winning run in the 8th inning.
Darrell Rasner pitched a gem, as he went 6 2/3 innings, giving up only 1 run on 3 hits. Rasner walked one, and struck out three batters in the effort, and his only blemish was a solo homerun in the 7th inning.
Jose Veras came in relief and got the loss, and was actually charged with giving up the run, when it was really an error by Johnny Damon. Damon dropped a flyball, which was the second occurance in the game for Damon, which caused the winning run to cross the plate.
Offensively, the Yankees got shut down by AJ Burnett yet again. Bobby Abreu’s RBI double in the first inning would give the Yankees a 1-0 lead, but would also be the only run for the game. The Yankees struck out 14 times on the evening, once again making an average pitcher look like a superstar. Alex Rodriguez struck out 3 times again, and Gimabi struck out 4 times.
The Yankees will somehow try to rebound against Roy Halliday on Wednesday. The season is almost over!!
GAME NOTES:
RASNER: 6.2 IP, 1ER, 3H, 3SO
ABREU: 2-4, RBI

Dropping routine fly balls, running three seconds after you hit the ball, I mean they have played some really bad games this year and then they do that shit last night against Toronto for Gods sakes, and we are worry about Pavano and his stiff neck?? Again Rasner did enough to more than keep us in that game, just like Ponson has over most of his games, and the rest of the pitchers, and we just find ways to lose, to good teams, bad teams, so so teams. The yankees are a mess.
Look at the BA’s and stats.
1) Jeter has jumped his average to 290 +, in a week, and still, we lose.
2) Bobby has jumped his average to 290 +, and still we lose.
3) Rasner and Ponson have been much better than we thought, and still we lose.
4) Nady is hitting near 370 since a yankee, and still we lose.
5) Mussina has 16 Wins, and still we lose.
6) Damon, Jeter, Bobby, Arod, Nady are all hitting 290 plus, we added a 300 hitter last nitght, Cano Has been stinging the ball, Molina has been hitting doubles, and hitting better period, and driving in runs, and still we lose.
So I ask you, why are we losing with all the guys actually doing much better over the last month or so, yet we are losing? Well, we can’t take advantage of driving home base runners for one. Then we sit guys we should’nt sit, at the most in opportune times.
We played Betemit way to much over Giambi when Giambi was doing well, and now Giambi stinks again. not even a mustache can save him.
He REFUSES to hit the ball to the left side. I don’t want to hear that it’s hard to do and that he can’t do it.
If he can’t put the ball down to the left side when the cloest man is playing behind 2nd base, then he should not be in the big leagues.
No excuses for Double play Jeter, but it’s no secret that since his hand is feeling better, he’s almost batting .300
We have lost 5 starters:
Wang
Hughes
Joba
IPK
Giese
Not the best starters in the world, but let ANY team lost 5 starters and replace them with Ponson and Rasner and you tell me where they’d be?
Matsui was out for 3 months. Posada out for the year.
No excuses, because the lineup they had last night, was more than capiable of pounding AJ Burnett.
The best CFer the Yankees have is their closer. Their second best is their SS.
This team is fucked up right now, but I still think they make the playoffs.
