YANKEES 5
RED SOX 7

With the Yankees’ rotation — down veterans Mike Mussina and Carl Pavano, and missing ace Chien-Ming Wang.. the Yankees were just hoping that rookie Jeff Karstens could keep the game close. Unfortunately for the Yanks, Karstens (0-1) would give up 7 runs in only 4 innings, not giving the Bombers much of a chance.

For the second night in a row, the Yankee offense bombed Red Sox starting pitching. All we have heard coming into the season and the series, is how “great” the starting pitching for the Red Sox was going to be. Well.. an injured Yankee lineup has scored 10 runs in 2 games against Schilling and Beckett. The Yankees have logged 10 runs (nine earned) and 17 hits in 13 2/3 innings against Boston starters over the first two games, with Matsuzaka’s effort remaining as the weekend’s great unknown.

The bad news so far, is that the Yankees have lost the first two games against Boston this season. The good news is, that in both games the Yanks had a chance to win. The Yankees are starting 2 rookies this series on the mound, as well as missing offensive threats such as Matsui, Posada, and Damon. So basically….the usual, every season occurance is going according to plan. The Red Sox beat the Yankees in the first series of the season (in April), while the Yanks are injured.. the Sox fans will run their mouths and get overconfident…. BUT when an important series later in the season comes up… we all know what to expect… another Yankee domination. Its like reading the same script each and every season. So, my main point of this is… DON’T PANIC!! In the word of a friend (Vic), “Shhhh…just let it happen”.

Tomorrow night, the Yankees will wrap up the series in Boston, with Chase Wright vs Matsuzaka.

GAME NOTES:
KARSTENS: Badly pitched game. The offense gave him a lead…and he kept giving it back. (4.1 IP, 9 H, 7 ER).
A-ROD: 2-4, 1 RBI
CANO: 2-4, 1 RBI

      Nicely written.

I’d add a vote like the other 2 people, but I don’t know how.

The Yankees are banged up right now and the Red Sox not only are healthy - but because of 2 rain outs last week, were able to throw their top 3 pitchers at us this weekend.

How bad are they, when they have their top 3 pitchers lined up to go against us, and so far after 2 games the run totals are 14-11?

Just a note for the other Yankee fans reading this:

As far as A-Rod goes: Shhh…just let it happen.
