YANKEES 2
MARINERS 5

Sunday afternnon in Seattle, the Yankees dropped another game to the horrible Seattle Mariners, 5-2. Mike Mussina came up short in his attempt to win his 18th game of the season.

Mike Mussina went 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits. Mussina struck out 7 batters while only walking 1, but was hurt by th elong ball giving up 2 homeruns.

Derek Jeter and Xavier Nady each clubbed solo home runs off Mariners starter Ryan Feierabend, to give the Yankees a 2-0 win. A-Rod went 0-for-10 in the series, and the Yankees failed to score against a scrub team.

The Yankees are now 8 1/2 games out with 19 left. Any combination of 12 Yankees losses or Red Sox victories will eliminate New York from AL Wild Card consideration. SO basically, the season is over.

The Yankees will play a 3 game set in Los Angeles, Anaheim, or wherever the Angels claim to be from this week.

GAME NOTES:
MUSSINA:
6IP, 7H, 4ER, 7SO
JETER: 2-3, HR
NADY: 1-2, HR
