YANKEES 1
ANGELS 2

Saturday afternoon at the Stadium, the Yankees lost in disappointing fashion in 13 innings to the Angels, 2-1. In a great pitchers duel by every pitcher involved, it came down to the Yankees commiting their 5th error of the game which them a victory.

Roger Clemens and John Lackey had a pitchers duel, in which each pitcher only gave up 1 run through 8 innings. Clemens allowed five hits and one run in eight innings, and Lackey matched him inning for inning, hit for hit. But Lackey notched 11 strikeouts, matching a career high. Unfortunately for the Yankees, the game was decided on a play in which Miguel Cairo made a great diving stop, but when throwing from his knees to Vizcaino (who was running to cover 1st base), the ball got away, causing the winning run to score.

Offensively, the Yankees were held to 1 run on only 7 hits in 13 innings. The lone run was scored, when Bobby Abreu doubled home Hideki Matsui in the 2nd inning.
10 Yankees batters went down on strikes.

The Yankees will try to win the rubber match of the series on Sunday, before heading into the All-Star break. Yankees will pitch Chien-Ming Wang against Erwin Santana.

Another poor offensive preformance. Damon needs to go. Abreu needs to go. We blow this year and need to get a youth injection. Jose Reyes anyone?
