Saturday afternoon at the Stadium, the frustration of this seaosn continued. Whether it be Joe Girardi’s horrible managing, or Alex Rodriguez’ pathetic swings with men on base, it all lead to the Yankees blowing a 6-2 lead, and losing 7-6 to the Blue Jays.
First off, a Robinson Cano error with a 6-2 lead, opened the flood gates for the Jays, and allowed them to cut the Yankee lead to 6-5. However, with runners on 2nd and 3rd.. Joe Girardi for some reason did NOT walk Jose Bautista to load the bases and present a force play. not only would it present a force play at all bases, and set up for a possible inning ending double play, but it would also bring to the plate the number 8 and 9 hitters for the Blue Jays. Instead… Girardi pitches to Bautista, and he singles to drive home the run. It seems like lately, Joe Girardi has been making some VERY questionable moves.
Secondly, we have Alex Rodriguez, who is HORRIBLE with runners in scoring position. Aside from his missed chances early in the game, the Yankees once again had 1st and 2nd base with 0 outs in the 9th inning, and A-Rod grounded into a double play to kill the Yankees chances of tieing the game.
A-Rod has been absolutely HORRIBLE in big spots this year. It’s time they move him out of the 4th spot..especially when he only has 78 RBI’s out of a clean up spot, and only has 2 RBI after the 7th inning.
A-Rod also set a RECORd for most duble plays in a month with 13. PATHETIC!!
The fact that everyone is blaming Robinson Can o for this loss..is STUPID. Cano’s error led to a run, and then the Yankees pitching and Girardi’s managing could not get anyone out. After the error…the Yanks still had the lead going into the next inning. The fact that the bullpen blew it, and Girardi can’t manage..is partial blame…and the fact that A-ROD sucks..is the other half to blame.
The Yankees will play out the rest of the schedule…including Pettitte vs Halladay on Sunday..which now means not much at all.
