Tuesday Night in Toronto, the Yankees took game 1 of the series from the Blue Jays, 9-2. Jason Giambi’s grand slam helped the Yanks to the victory, and Phil Hughes pitched a good six innings.

Phil Hughes threw 106 pitches, giving up only 2 runs on three hits while striking out a batter. Ramirez releived hughes with 2 innings of no run ball, and struck out 5 batters.

Johnny Damon had a two-run single in the second inning to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead. Jorge Posada added a homerun, but the big blow of the night came from Jason Giambi, who hit a grand slam in the 5th inning.

The Yankees will look to win their 7th straight when Mike Mussina will face Dustin McGowen.
