YANKEES 5
WHITE SOX 1

Wednesday night at the Stadium, the Yankees defeated the White Sox 5-1. Phil Hughes made his first return since coming off the DL, and with his 4 innings and some good relief from the bullpen, the Yankees managed to score late runs to win.

In his first Major League appearance since April 29, Phil Hughes worked four innings and threw 89 pitches. Hughes held the Chicago offense to just one run on four hits, but pitched alot of pitches per inning. Phil Coke looked impressive yet again, pitching 2 innings of scoreless ball, and then
Bruney, Chamberlain, and Ramirez closed the game out with a scoreless inning each.

Xavier Nady put the Yankees on the board when his RBI single in the seventh inning brought Alex Rodriguez across the plate to tie the game at 1-1, and he scored the go-ahead run, sprinting home as Chicago reliever Mike MacDougal threw a wild pitch. Johnny Damon and Rodriguez each went deep in the eighth inning to push the lead to four runs.

The Yankees will try to win the series on Thursday before heading into the final series ever at the Stadium against the Baltimore Orioles.
