Being that the 2008 Season is quickly coming upon us, I figured we would take a quick look at the possible Yankee lineup and rotation. nothing offical of course has been announced…but here is what it looks like itmay shape out to be.

Projected batting order
1. LF Johnny Damon
2. SS Derek Jeter
3. RF Bobby Abreu
4. 3B Alex Rodriguez
5. C Jorge Posada
7. 2B Robinson Cano
8. CF Melky Cabrera
9. 1B Shelley Duncan

** I would assume that the other probable situation would be batting Hideki Matsui at DH with Giambi at 1st base. OR… Putting Matsui in left, with Damon as a DH.

Projected rotation
1. Chien-Ming Wang
2. Andy Pettitte
3. Phil Hughes
4. Joba Chamberlain
5. Mike Mussina

** Of course you have Ian Kennedy awaiting in the wings should Joba or Mussina not work out. I would make an early prediction that Joba will end up back in the bullpen as a set up man, and Ian Kennedy will claim his spot in the starting rotation.

PROJECTED BULLPEN
Closer= Mariano Rivera
Set up man: LaTroy Hawkins
6ht and 7th: Jonathan Albaladejo, Kyle Farnsworth

** Kyle Farnsworth may be given the early opportunity to be the set up man for MO. …but I don’t expect to Joe Girardi to put up with him like Torre did. Expect him to be out of the set up role rather quickly with Hawkins awaiting…and possibly JOBA back in that spot.

As I said……..nothing is official… but this is what I would think the team looks like it is shaping up to be in 2008.

Send us your comments…let us know what you think.

DOES ANYONE AGRRE THAT ROBINSON CANO SHOULD BAT THIRD THIS SEASON?? HE IS AN UP AND COMING STAR, WHO JUST SIGNED A BIG CONTRACT. IT IS TIME TO PUT HIM IN THE BIG SPOT AND SEE WHAT HE CAN DO. I BEILIEVE HITTING IN FRONT OF A-ROD WILL REALLY HELP HIS GAME EXPLODE!!

I agree… Robinson Cano does bat way to low in the lineup.
I guess the problem may be, where does Abreu go? I would at least move Cano up to 5th in the lineup. I dont think Posada will have the season that he had last year.
