Tuesday Night at the Stadium, the Yankees beat the Mariners 12-3. Chien-Ming Wang pitched another gem, allowing only one run in 7 1/3 innings. The Yankee offense finally woke up, scoring 12 runs, including four home runs.
Chien-Ming Wang (17-6) pitched 7 1/3 innings, and gave up only 1 run on 5 hits. Wang only needed 86 pitches to do the job, while he struck out only one but induced 17 ground-ball outs.
Offensively, the Bombers drilled four home runs in all — one each from Alex Rodriguez and Bobby Abreu, and two from Jorge Posada — and tallied up 12 runs on 19 hits. The big inning came in the seventh inning, when the Yankees scored Eight runs and sent 12 batters to the plate. Abreu and Robinson Cano had four hits apiece, while A-Rod, Posada and Wilson Betemit also chipped in with multi-hit games.
The Yankees and Mariners will play the rubber game of the series tomorrow night, pitching Phil Hughes against Jarrod Washburn.
