YANKEES 5
WHITESOX 1

Wednesday Night in Chicago, the Yankees beat the White Sox 5-1. Chien-Ming Wang pitched a complete game, leading the Yankees to their second victory in a row. YEs..thats right… Torre actually let a pitcher pitch a COMPLETE GAME!!

Wang (5-4) won for the fourth time in five starts, working his way through the White Sox order with a slew of groundouts. Wang pitched a complete game (9 innings), giving up only 1 run on 5 hits, and had 4 strikeouts.

Offensively, Johnny Damon had an RBI double and Alex Rodriguez drove in two runs with the bases loaded in the four-run third, and Bobby Abreu added an insurance homer in the eighth. The Yankees could have scored even more runs, but two runners were called out attempting to take second base, A-rod attempting a double, and Posada tagging up from first. Replays showed, that both Posada and Rodriguez were both safe, in trying to reach second base. The Bombers had 11 hits and 5 runs.

Also, some good defense was played, including Melky Cabrera throwing out a runner at homeplate who was trying to tag up and score on a fly out.
Combination of good timely hitting, great pitching, and good defense, led the Yankees to their second straight win, and are beginning to look as if this could possibly be the start of a nice run. (especially with some weak NL opponents upcoming on the schedule).

Yankees will end the 4 game set in Chicago tomorrow night, pitting:
Mike Mussina vs Jose Contreras.

GAME NOTES:
WANG: CG, 5 H, 1 ER, 4 SO
ABREU: 1-3, HR, RBI
A-ROD: 2-4, 2 RBI
DAMON: 2-5, RBI
