YANKEES 1
BLUE JAYS 2

Thursday night in Toronto, Joe Torre made sure that Yankees did not earn a sweep of the Jays. Of course, we all expected it, because anytime the Yanks have a chance at a sweep, Torre decides to sit starters, and pitch guys that shoudn’t pitch. So we all knew the obvious (no Posada), but Torre took it to a whole new level (and it wasn’t even Farnsworth).
After Ian Kennedy pitched a GEM, in a 1-1 game in the bottom of the ninth, Joe Torre calls on Chris Britton…yes… Chris Britton to pitch. And we all know what the outcome was.

Ian Kennedy made an impressive start for the Yankees, giving up only 1 hit (which should have been caught) in 7 innings. Kennedy would allow 1 run in the first inning on the only hit he would give up, and struck out seven while walking four. Vizcaino would relieve Kennedy in the 8th, and hold the game at 1-1. Unfortunately, Joe Torre decided to put in Chris Britton, and the Yanks would give up a run to lose the game.

Offensively, the Yankees did nothing against starter AJ Burnett except for a Johnny Damon homer in the sixth inning to tie the game at 1-1.

The Yankees will now go into a weekend 3 game set against the first place Boston Red Sox. This series would have had alot more excitement, if the Yankees could have won this game, but thanks to Joe …the Yankees will enter the series 5 1/2 games back.

GAME NOTES:

KENNEDY: 7IP, 1H, 1ER, 7SO
DAMON: 1-4, HR
