With 2009 just around the corner, the Yankees are preparing to move into the new Yankee Stadium. The new Yankee Stadium will open in 2009, replacing the third-oldest stadium in the Major Leagues. (Fenway and Rigley being 1 & 2).
The new Yankee Stadium will seat fewer than the current stadium, but it will have 60 luxury suites, including three outdoor suites and eight party suites. It will have many restaurants, larger concourses and entertainment areas. In summary… less REAL FANS..and more business men aka “SUITS”.
Those of you fans, who attend regular season games, but can’t get playoff seats because some “exec”, who can’t name 3 pitchers in the rotation, has your seats … know just what I am talking about. With less seating, means less noise, less amount of screaming Yankee fans, and more of the quiet guy in the Luxury Boxes who leaves a game in the 5th inning.
For a Yankee fan like me, who has attended games since I was young, the memories of Yankee Staidum will be all that I have. The feeling I get when walking into the stadium, and watching the Yankees play is a relaxing feeling, like no other. It’s hard to describe to someone who doesn’t appreciate Yankee Stadium as it is. The tradition, the smell of the grass, and those “Ghosts” that seem to give us some of the greatest comebacks and unforgettable moments we will ever see.
My advise to those fans who think like me…. is to go to as many games as possible these next few seasons… and take in the atmosphere, and hope we get some last memories. We hear the phrase “This new stadium will create new memories” ….. but we all know…it’s just not gonna be the same!!
Feel free to comment… and let us know what you think about the change in scenery… and even let us know some of your greates Stadium memories!!
