Tuesday night at the Stadium, the Yankees lost to the Red Sox 7-3. Andy Pettitte was squeezed all night by the home plate umpire, and could not get a strike called. The Yankee offense had plenty of opportunities but stranded runners in scoring position all nght long. Alex Rodriguez grounded into 2 double plays, and popped up with men in scoring position.
Andy Pettitte threw 4.2 innings and allowed 6 runs on 10 hits. Pettitte walked 3 and struck out 3, and was not given any calls on the corners.
Jonny Damon hit 2 homeruns on the night, and got the Yankees off to a 1-0 lead with a homer i the 1st inning. It was Damon’s first two-homer game since July 30, 2006. Alex Rodriguez continued to be horrible with runners in scorking position all night long, and received loud “boos” from the crowd.
It looks as if the Yankees season is about over…as they need to win the next two games against Boston. Even if they win those 2 games..they will still be 4 games back with a month to go.
Sidney Ponson will take the mound on Wednesday, with the season on the line.
GAME NOTES:
PETTITTE: 4.2IP, 10H, 6ER
