Today, I am going to talk about you spoiled Yankee fans!!
The Yankees have reached the playoffs 13 years in a row, given you some of the most classic memorable games in those years, and even this one time that they don’t make the playoffs…. they still had 89 wins!!
Yet… all I hear is complaints!?!?
First off, you can’t expect a team to be the best team in baseball every single year. Secondly, the Yankees had an 89-73 record this year, which is 16 games over .500… and would have been a good enough record to win the AL Central, and the NL West. Also, factor in that they played in the toughest division (AL EAST) in all of baseball. ALSO..factor in that their ACE of the staff (Chien-Ming Wang) missed the entire season… ALSO factor in that their All Star catcher Jorge Posada missed over half of the season.
YES..I am upset they didn’t make the playoffs…and YES, I felt they had a good enough team to make the playoffs. However… I am not going to start whining and complaining because they did not make the playoffs for once!!
Losing an ACE of your staff, playing in the toughest division, and losing your allstar catcher for the year…and still winning 89 games is nothing to complain about.
I get a laugh at all you Yankee fans, all you Yankee haters, and all the media…who say “the Yankees sucked this season”. I get a laugh at certain websites that do power rankings to end the season, and have the Yankees listed around 15 (below the METS, and teams that they had a better record then). Anyone how knows baseball…knows that the Yankees are better than EVERY team in the NL…and the only teams that deserve to be ranked ahead of them this seaosn would be Anahiem, Tampa, and Boston.
Back to the Yankee fans….
Were you NOT here in the 80’s when we had to sit through losing season, after losing season? (probably not). Do you not realize that no teams comes close to the Yankees playoff appearances of late?? Do you not realize…even the Red Sox, who have been successful the past few years, missed the playoffs the year after they won the World Series…and then returned to the Series the next season??
I also don’t want to hear the old corny “Yankees have the highest payroll..so they should make the playoffs every year”.
The METS have the highest payroll in the NL over the past years..and they dont make the playoffs every year…. The DODGERS have on the highest payrolls in baseball every year….and they rarely make the playoffs…The RED SOX have the second highest payroll in the AL…and they didn’t make the playoffs 2 years ago.
GET a grip on reality…and enjoy when your team makes the playoffs…and don’t always EXPECT it. Sometimes it seems that missing the playoffs…makes you realize how special it is to make it!!
