YANKEES 8
DEVIL RAYS 10

Tonight in Tampa Bay, the Yankees dropped their 4th straight game, with a 10-8 loss to the Devil Rays. Kei Igawa (1-1) continued the horrible starting pitching of late. Igawa got the hook in favor of Colter Bean after he allowed seven runs on eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings. The left-hander also
walked three, fanned three and served up two home runs.

Offensively, the Yankees had another impressive night, putting up 8 runs on the board. The Yankees took a brief lead in the second inning with Rodriguez’s solo homer to left field. In addition to tying the American League record for homers in April, he became the fastest in Major League history to reach 13 home runs in a season, having accomplished the feat in 18 days. With No. 13, Rodriguez tied former Seattle Mariners outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. for the American League record for home runs in April. He then tied the Major League record for most home runs in April, 14, with a two-run blast in the top of the ninth. Unfortunately, A-Rod’s 2 blasts weren’t enough for the Yanks.

GAME NOTES:

IGAWA: Horrible outing. (4.1 IP, 8 H, 7 ER)
A-ROD: 4-5, 3 RBI, 2 HR
GIAMBI: 3-4, 1 RBI
CANO: 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 HR
