Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte was scratched from his scheduled start today, with inflammation in his pitching elbow, but the team is optimistic that the ailment will prove to be relatively minor.

“They’re extremely cautious here,” Pettitte said. “I guess it’s good. Obviously I want to pitch but I understand. They don’t want me to aggravate it more and it’s Spring Training.”

Basically, this appears to be nothing serious, as Andy Pettitte petitioned to take the mound today, but Yankee management would rather stay on the side of caution.
