Wednesday night in Chicago, the Yankees took their second straight game against the White sox, 6-4. Mike Mussina rebounded this game, and actually pitched a good game for the Yankees. Jorge Posada and Johnny Damon each drove in two runs in the win.
Mike Mussina (2-3) pitched seven strong innings, scattering four hits, walking one and striking out three in a 101-pitch performance. Mussina gave up only 2 earned runs before handing the game over to the bullpen.
Latroy Hawkins gave up 2 runs, and was relieved by Mariano Rivera who pitched a scoreless 1 2/3 innings.
Jorge Posada drove home two runs with a double to center field in the fifth inning, but the Yankees broke it open with three runs in the sixth, scoring on an RBI single by Derek Jeter and Damon’s two-run double — his seventh RBI in the past three games.
The Yankees will go for the sweep of the White Sox on Thursday night.
