ORIOLES 0

Tuesday night at the Stadium, the Yankees defeated the Orioles, 12-0. Mike Mussina pitched a great game, shutting out the Orioles for seven innings and coupled with a Red Sox loss, the Yankees have now pulled to within 2 1/2 games of Boston for the AL East with 11 games remaining.

Mike Mussina gave up 0 runs on three-hits, and struckout six. Mussina has pitched 12 2/3 scoreless innings since returning to the rotation on a Sept. 12. Mike Mussina’s 10th win extended his AL record to 16 consecutive seasons with double-digit victories.

Offensively, the Yankees did major damage in the 5th inning, with the big blow being a 3 run homer for Doug Mientkiewicz. The Yankees would score 6 runs in the inning.
