The Yankees placed Pavano (forearm) and Mike Mussina (left hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. New York’s pitching staff continues to be depleted, with Mussina and Pavano joining fellow starter Chien-Ming Wang on the DL. Pavano was set to throw a bullpen session on Sunday, but was held out. The Yankees now have two holes to fill in their rotation, with left-hander Chase Wright considered to be the leading candidate to be called up from the minors.
