Alex Rodriguez had to make an official statement Thursday, calrifying what he meant in a recent statement in which he said “I was tested “nine or 10 times” for performance-enhancing drugs last year.”
The media ran with the quote, suggesting that only players that have failed a drug test would be forced to take that many tests. A-Rod cleared the air by saying “I was simply stating just for the sake of saying that I think we have a very good testing system,” Rodriguez said Thursday. “Obviously, I wasn’t being specific. I was bringing to light that I think we have a very effective testing system in place, and I was commending Major League Baseball.”
The problem, is that the media tries to take every single comment made, as a testimony or literal statement. Every reporter is just trying to make the next story, without even verifying what they have.
Its time for baseball… and the FANS are ready to see and talk baseball… however, the media will not let the steroid thing go. What does it take for these morons to realize, that NOBODY CARES!! The ONLY people that care about the steroid issue, is the MEDIA because it gives them something to write about.
When YANKEE Stadium is sold out, and fans are cheering and watching the games….and watching a pennant race…. do you think they are worried about who is doing steroids??? NO!!!
Get over it already…its played out!!
“I think the lesson is, you’ve got to be very, very specific with what you say,” Rodriguez said. “Everything can come back and people are going to ask. I’ve learned my lesson.”
