YANKEES 2
RAYS 5

Thursday afternoon, the Yankees lost yet another series, falling to the Rays 5-2. Ian Kennedy made a return to the starting rotation, and pitched just as badly as he was pitching the first time in the rotation. Kennedy gave up 5 runs in 5 innings of work.

Ian Kennedy gave up a homerun to start the game off, which was an early sign of things to come, as Kennedy would give up 2 homeruns in the game and 5 runs overall. Kennedy gave up 5 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3. The only positive of his performance is that he only walked 1 batter. Hawkins, Veras, an dRimirez eacfh pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Offensively, the Yankees looked bad yet again. The Yanks only scored 2 runs on 7 hits, in which both runs came in the 7th inning. Melky Cabrera and Derek Jeter each had run scoring singles.

Friday night starts a series for the battle fo NY, as the Yankees face the Mets at Yankee stadium. Both teams are struggling, and the pitching matchup in game 1 will be Rasner vs Santana. (weather permitting).

GAME NOTES:
KENNEDY: 5IP, 5H, 5ER, 3SO
JETER: 2-4, RBI
CABRERA:
2-4, RBI
