Jeff Karstens has pitched brilliantly in his appearances so far in the 2007 preseason. Karstens has delivered nine shutout innings in Grapefruit League play, striking out nine and walking none.
As we near the final roster cuts for the season, pitchers are being bounced off of the major league roster, left and right,…but Karstens still remains. “I’m trying to stay level-headed and relax,” Karstens said. “I’m just going about my business. I don’t say too much. I’d rather have what I do on the field speak for itself.”
Being that Jeff has proven himself “major league worthy” last season in appearances for the pinstripes, coupled with his great post season pitching so far, it looks as if Karstens may hang around a while longer.
In my opinion, I think they need to let Karstens stay up on the roster…. especially with the usual “PAVANO question marks”. I would feel more comfortable in having a guy that can actually Step on the field…rather than guys with excuses everytime their number is called.
