Tests yesterday revealed no damage to Jeff Karstens’ elbow, as an MRI and CT scan showed his arm to be in sound shape. Joe Torre called it “outstanding news,” though the team has no exact timetable for his return.

“Now it’s just a matter of getting that little irritation out of there,” Torre said. “In a couple of days, we’ll see how he is. It’s a little premature to try to predict that.”

Karstens had been rumored to have the 5th spot in the starting rotation as his spot, but now after this latest injury, it is rumored that Darrell Rasner is now the front-runner for that spot.

It seems like we are updating another Yankee pitching injury everyday on here. Let’s hope this is not a re-occuring theme for the 2007 season!!
