As I have suggested since the end of last season, it looks as if Joba Chamberlain will start out the season in the bullpen. The Yankees claim that their plan for Joba is to start him off in the Bullpen for the 2008 season, and then send him to the minors for June so he can get a few starts down there, and then ultimately come up to start by seasons end.

What I see, is what I have been saying along…. I don’t think Joba is a starter!! Why take a guy out of a role in which he was so dominate in, especially when you have a starting 5 in place?? Barring injury to the starting 5, I would say Joba is going to stay in the pen as the setup man.

The Yankees will play this by ear… Basically if Ian Kennedy is successful, and Mike Mussina pitches better this year, than Joba wil stay in the Pen. If Ian Kennedy turns out to be a disaster, than you will see Joba pop up to the starters role, if the Yankees can find someone to step up and take the Set-up man role!!
