YANKEES 5
RED SOX 8

The Yankees fell to the Red Sox, 8-5, in the final game of the weekend series at Fenway Park. Phil Hughes got lit up, lasting just two-plus innings, allowing seven of Boston’s eight runs.

Even though highes put the Yankees in a huge hole, the Yanks attempted to come back, as they lit up Dic-K yet again. The Yankees scored four runs on five hits over five innings, and walked six times off of the overrated Boston starter. Bobby Abreu smacked a run-scoring double off the Green Monster in the third. In the fourth, Molina added an RBI double — his third of the series — and Alberto Gonzalez, filling in again for the injured Derek Jeter, came through with an RBI single that proved costly when Molina injured his left hamstring sliding home. Molina would grit it out for another three innings before leaving for a pinch-runner.
In the seventh, Jason Giambi cut Boston’s lead to two runs with his second home run of the series off Mike Timlin, blasting a ball over the right-field wall and into the Yankees’ bullpen. That would be all for the Yankees for the night.

In a Shocking turn of events (sarcasm), Kyle Farnsworth gave up yet another run. When will it END?????

GAME NOTES:
HUGHES: 2IP, 6H, 6ER
GIAMBI: 1-3, HR
MOLINA: 2-4, RBI
