Jeter is expected to get a day off on Thursday, with Chris Basak making his major-league debut and starting in his place against the White Sox. Manager Joe Torre wants to rest Jeter as he fouled a pitch off of his ankle on Sunday night against Boston. He should be back in the lineup on Friday against Pittsburgh, as he’s played in all three games against the White Sox this week.
