YANKEES 3
BLUE JAYS 9

Tuesday night at the Stadium, the Yankees got clobbered by the Blue Jays, 9-3. Joba Chamberlain made his first start, and it went just as I said it would… NOT GOOD. Joba could not find the plate, and neither could the rest of the Yankees bullpen, as they gave up 9 runs.

Joba Chamberlain made the start and lasted only 2 1/3 innings. Joba threw 38 pitches in the frist inning alone while walking 3 batters, and went on to pitch 62 pitches (only half for strikes). Chamberlain allowed two runs — one earned — in all, giving up one hit and striking out three.

New addition to the staff, Dan Giese held the Blue Jays to one run over 3 2/3 innings of his Major League debut… But Jose Veras entered in the seventh inning to give up two runs and retire only one batter, and Edwar Ramirez followed that by allowing four runs without recording a single out.

The Yankees scored two runs in the first inning — Johnny Damon tripled and Hideki Matsui and Jason Giambi each knocked in runs off of Roy Halliday. Bobby Abreu knocked in a run in the seventh inning, but thats all that the Yanks would score.

Overall… a bad performance by Joba, just adding to my earlier sentiments…. KEEP HIM IN THE PEN!!

GAME NOTES:
CHAMBERLAIN: 2.1 IP, 1 ER, 4BB, 3SO
MATSUI: 2-4, RBI
GIAMBI: 1-2, RBI
