Yankees 7
NY Mets 10

Saturday aftenoon at Shea, the Yankees once again embarrassed themselves with a 10-7 loss to the Mets. Lack of pitching, and horrible plays in the field, led to a disasterous day.

The tone was set in the first inning, when the ninth pitch of Rasner’s effort was smacked back to the mound by Endy Chavez, a one-hop grounder that fractured Rasner’s right index finger. After leaving the game, Joe Torre came up with the brilliant {sarcastic} idea of bringing in Mike Myers to pitch. Myers was charged with four runs and five hits in two innings.
To make things worse, Robinson Cano had 3 errors, as well as another dropped ball that would have been an error, but you can’t assume a double play {trust me..you could have assumed this one}. Then, Johnny Damon continued his horrid season, but letting a ball hit him in the heal of the glove, and having it bounce over the fence for a Mets homerun.

Offensively, the Yankees made a late run in the 8th inning, to make the game look closer than it really was … but after cutting the lead to 8-6, Joe Torre made another great move {sarcastic} by bringing in Kyle Farnsworth. Farnsworth gave up 2 runs as usual, and the Yanks went on to lose 10-7.

The good news .. Cano, A-Rod, and Posada each hit a homerun ..and Jeter extended his hitting streak to 14 games. The ingteresting thing will be to see if Joe Torre keeps his job after this weekend. The Yankees will try to avoid a sweep Sunday night as rookie Tyler Clippard will face John Maine.

GAME NOTES:
POSADA: 4-5, HR, 2 RBI
A-ROD: 2-4, RBI, HR
CANO: 2-5, RBI, HR
