Bobby Abreu, who has driven in 100 or more runs in each of the last six seasons, was one of four New York Yankees players to file for free agency on Thursday. Joining Abreu on the first day of the filing period were Yankees catchers Ivan Rodriguez and Chad Moeller, plus right-handed pitcher Sidney Ponson.

Abreu, who turns 35 in February, batted .296 with 20 home runs, 100 RBIs and 22 stolen bases in 156 games. The other 3 Yankees are of no significance, as they really have no need for any of them.

Personally, I do not understand why Yankees fans are so quick to want to replace Bobby Abreu. Abrue has put up solid numbers as a Yankee, and has also hit in the clutch (which most Yankees fail to do).
Yes, Abreu is not the greatest outfielder, and we know he is afraid of the outfield walls….. HOWEVER… Who do you want to replace him with??

If you look at th epossible options out there to play right field, you will not find a better player than Bobby Abreu. Yankee fans and the organization need to stop pointing fingers and being spoiled, and quick to ship guys out….when they aren’t part of the problem.

On a side note…if the Yankees get Manny …. I will be bashing him and the Yankees organization on here every single day!!!
