Alex Rodriguez was the in-studio guest on WFAN (NY) today, and spoke about his situation with the Yankees. A-Rod, who struggled throughout the ladder part of the season and post season, says that he was “not having fun for the first time in his career”.
A-Rod spoke about his disappointment in himself, and his play as a Yankee. Rodriguez admitted to not playing well against the Tigers in last years playoffs, and in the previous years playoffs. When asked “How can you go about changing your post season play?”, A-Rod said “I need to be more selecive in my at bats, and not go for the long ball every bat”. Alex also spoke about his “disappointment in being batted in the 8th slot during the postseason”.
A-Rod is now expecting this season to be his defining season as a Yankee. Alex wants to finish his career in the Yankee pinstripes, but knows that his play this year could determine whether or not that is going to happen. Alex admitted “This off season, I thought about going to another team for a half -a-second….but I felt that I wanted to complete my mission here in NY”.
Other A-Rod quote and points of interest that A-Rod touched on were:
* “I have 9-10 friends on this team” and doesnt understand why the media portrays him as being an outcast.
* “I felt lost at 3rd base at times last season”
* A-Rod also refused to speak about Derek Jeter
