YANKEES 6
BLUE JAYS 7
Saturday afternoon at the Stadium, the frustration of this seaosn continued. Whether it be Joe Girardi’s horrible managing, or Alex Rodriguez’ pathetic swings with men on base, it all lead to the Yankees blowing a 6-2 lead, and losing 7-6 to the Blue Jays.
First off, a Robinson Cano error with a 6-2 lead, opened the flood gates for the Jays, and allowed them to cut the Yankee lead to 6-5. However, with runners on 2nd and 3rd.. Joe Girardi for some reason did NOT walk Jose Bautista to load the bases and present a force play. not only would it present a force play at all bases, and set up for a possible inning ending double play, but it would also bring to the plate the number 8 and 9 hitters for the Blue Jays. Instead… Girardi pitches to Bautista, and he singles to drive home the run. It seems like lately, Joe Girardi has been making some VERY questionable moves.
Secondly, we have Alex Rodriguez, who is HORRIBLE with runners in scoring position. Aside from his missed chances early in the game, the Yankees once again had 1st and 2nd base with 0 outs in the 9th inning, and A-Rod grounded into a double play to kill the Yankees chances of tieing the game.
A-Rod has been absolutely HORRIBLE in big spots this year. It’s time they move him out of the 4th spot..especially when he only has 78 RBI’s out of a clean up spot, and only has 2 RBI after the 7th inning.
A-Rod also set a RECORd for most duble plays in a month with 13. PATHETIC!!
The fact that everyone is blaming Robinson Can o for this loss..is STUPID. Cano’s error led to a run, and then the Yankees pitching and Girardi’s managing could not get anyone out. After the error…the Yanks still had the lead going into the next inning. The fact that the bullpen blew it, and Girardi can’t manage..is partial blame…and the fact that A-ROD sucks..is the other half to blame.
The Yankees will play out the rest of the schedule…including Pettitte vs Halladay on Sunday..which now means not much at all.
GAME NOTES:
AROD: 1-5, DP

Friday night at the Stadium, the Yankees outlasted the Toronto Blue Jays 2-1 in a pitchers duel. Carl Pavano and A.J. Burnett each shut down the offenses, but the Yankees scratched out 2 runs for the win.
Carl Pavano pitched 6 innings of 1 run ball for the Yankees. Pavano gave up only 1 run on 3 hits in his 72 pitch outing. Jason Giambi tacked on a sacrifice fly to left, scoring New York’s second run to give them a 2-0 lead. Alex Rodriguez continued to struggle, as he grounded into a double play with runners on yet again.

Thursday afternoon at the Stadium, the Yankees narrowly avoided a sweep at the hands of the Red Sox, with a 3-2 walk off win. Jason Giambi hit a pinch hit 2 run homer in the 7th, to ties the game at 2-2, and then hit a walk off basehit off of Jonathan Papplebon in the bottom of the 9th inning to drive in the winning run. Mike Mussina pitched another outstanding game for the Yankees.
Mike Mussina pitched seven strong innings for the Yankees, giving up only 2 runs. Mussina scattered five hits, walked two and struck out six in the effort, but received a no-decision. Bruney, Marte and Rivera combined to shut down the Sox the rest of the way, with Mariano Rivera picking up the Win in relief.
Alex Rodriguez failed to get home runners in scoring position on numerous occasions, and heard the boos from the crowd all day long. A-Rod struck out 3 times, and stranded 4 runners in scoring position. Trailing 2-0, Girardi called on Jason Giambi in the 7th inning to come off the bench with a runner (Cody Ransom) on 2nd base to pinch hit. Jason Giambi delivered with a 2 run bomb over the center field fence and off of the black wall, to tie the game at 2-2. In the 9th, the bases would be loaded, and up came Jason Giambi again, but this time to face Jonathan Papplebon. Papplebon got ahead of Giambi 0-2, and made the mistake of hanging the ball over the plate for Gimabi, who would line the ball into center field for the walk off RBI.
With the win, the Yankees avoided the sweep, and kept whatever little chance they have left to survive in the season. The Yanks next task will be to try and sweep the Toronto Blue Jays, in whcih they will face Burnett and Holliday.

MUSSINA: 7IP, 5H, 2ER, 6SO

Alex Rodriguez is HORRIBLE when it counts…..
A-Rod cannot even get a sac-fly to get a run in.
STRIKE OUT or DOUBLE PLAY everytime theres men on base.
How many times tonight do we have A-Rod come up with men in scoring position, and he pops up weakly, or half swings into a double play.
Anyone who ever brings up stats of his at bats in clutch situations last season, and claims he has big hits….is a MORON!! His whole career as a Yankee, he chokes in the clutch, and actually changes his swing because he’s nervous with men in scoring position.

Is this game fixed????
This current Yankees vs Red Sox game has to be one of the most one sided home plate umping I have EVER seen in all of my years watching baseball.
Andy Pettitte has been getting squeezed all night…and it gets worse and worse as the game goes on. Strikes right down the middle of the plate…called Balls!!!
I can’t believe Pettitte or Girardi hasn’t been tossed yet.

Friday night in Baltimore, the Yankees came from behind to defeat the Orioles, 9-4. Even though the Yankees hit 4 homeruns, and look like they clobbered the Orioles, it wasn’t that easy. The Yanks had to come from behind, but exploded in the 8th and 9th innings.
Mike Mussina finished with a no-decision and six innings of four-run, nine-hit baseball. Mussina walked no batters, and struck out three. when Mussina left the game after the 6th inning, the Yanks were trailing 4-3. Jose Veras pitched a scoreless 7th inning, and picked up the win.
