Giambi (heel) will be out at least three weeks after an examination on Thursday revealed torn issue in the arch of his left foot, the Associated Press reports. “He will be re-evaluated in three weeks,” Yankees spokesman Jason Zillo said. With Giambi out, Melky Cabrera will see more playing time in the outfield, with Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon and Bobby Abreu all getting time at the DH spot. Not much is going right for the Yankees and their controversial stars this season, and this is yet another example because Giambi was thought to possibly be ready to play this weekend. Perhaps those Mark Teixeira or Todd Helton rumors will start to heat up

Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez stepped up to the plate with a mysterious, busty blonde in Toronto, as these intimate, exclusive photos reveal.
The cozy duo dined with two pals at a pricey steakhouse late Sunday night, then headed to a glitzy strip club before making their way to his hotel, where the pair ducked into an elevator and headed upstairs just after midnight.
Cynthia Rodriguez - A-Rod’s wife and mother of their 2 1/2-year-old daughter, Natasha - was nowhere to be seen during the slugger’s big night out on the town, which occurred the evening before the last-place Bronx Bombers’ pathetic 7-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.
And it came as Rodriguez took a room at Toronto’s Four Seasons hotel - down the street from the Park Hyatt, where most, if not all of his Yankee teammates and coaches are staying during a three-game stint that ends tonight.
“No comment,” Rodriguez said when The Post asked him about his north-of-the-border jaunt with the blonde.
Yankees spokesman Jason Zillo said A-Rod has “never commented on his personal or private life, and he’s not going to start now.”
Rodriguez went 0-for-3 last night in the Yanks’ 3-2 loss to the Blue Jays.
A-Rod started his busy Sunday in The Bronx, where the Yankees dropped a third straight game to the Los Angeles Angels.
The powerhouse third baseman then flew to Toronto, where he checked into the Four Seasons in the city’s posh Yorkville section.
After settling in, the 31-year-old A-Rod, the mystery blonde and two men left the Four Seasons in a taxi shortly after 8:30 p.m., and headed to dinner at Harbour Sixty Steakhouse, a ritzy restaurant located about two miles away near the city’s harbor and the Rogers Centre, where the Blue Jays play.
Rodriguez, who was wearing his wedding band, was casually dressed in jeans and a white, short-sleeved T-shirt featuring a large fleur-de-lis on its left arm. His tight-bodied, bleach-blonde gal pal was clad in a snug pair of blue jeans, a shiny, light T-shirt and wedge-heeled shoes.
A witness told The Post that Rodriguez and his three companions spent about two hours dining at Harbour Sixty.
Rodriguez and the blonde, and possibly the two other men, then were driven in one of Harbour Sixty’s cars two miles to the Brass Rail, a flashy strip club located on Yonge Street.
The witness saw A-Rod and the woman go into the Brass Rail just after 11 p.m.
Home to what one Web site calls, “Toronto’s most beautiful all-nude dancers,” the Brass Rail is known for its booming sound system, overflowing crowds, overpriced beers and $20 lap dances - a drop in the bucket for Rodriguez, who has a 10-year contract worth $252 million.
Rodriguez and the blonde spent an hour or so at the Brass Rail, the witness said.
When they walked out of there, A-Rod and the woman were alone.
They then got a cab back to the Four Seasons. Their cab pulled up to the hotel minutes after midnight.
A-Rod then strode into the hotel behind her. He rubbed his nose as if to obscure his face to other people as he joined her at the elevator bank.
As the doors to an elevator opened, he and the blonde got in together, the witness said.
The doors then closed, and they disappeared upstairs.

It has come to that time, that Joe Torre’s run as Yankee manager needs to come to an end. I know the Yankees have had injuries, slumping bats, and bad bullpen pitching….however…that’s not what i’m judging Joe Torre on. I am judging him on his bad managing, and his pre-determined plans before a game starts, and not going away from them based on in-game situatuions.
I have ranted on this blog previously about the “Torre Rulebook” that he manages by, instead of using real managing instincts and treating each game differently. Well… Joe Torre actually made a comment in a post game interview the other day, in which he said (referring to pulling out Mussina in the 7th inning) “I have a pre-determined plan before the game, in which once the 7th inning comes, I will take it batter by batter until he lets a runner on”. HOW can you make a statement like this?? This is NOT managing!!! As i’ve said in my previous blogs… you can NOT manage a team by a pre-set book of moves. Every game is different and calls for different moves….which Torre does not do anymore.
Joe Torre used to manage on instincts, and seemed to press all the right buttons during the championship years. I’ve always known that he has had the best talent to work with, but still gave him credit for his managing.
However, as time has passed, he has gotten stuck on the “Torre Rulebook”. It’s kinda like having an offensive coordinator in football, where you know exactly what play they are going to run in each situation. If you are going to manage like that….there is no point of managing the team… we can get a ROBOT or anyone to follow the book. It’s time to get someone who can adjust to the game and make moves based on instinct and common sense…rather than a pre-determined plan. You can NOT pre-determine managing moves in baseball.
I do see that the Yankees offense is not hitting, and the pitching hasn’t been great all season, and there have been injuries… however, I am NOT judging Torre on that. I am judging Torre on his in-game decisions, which have cost the Yankees about 10-15 wins this year.
I will always be grateful of Joe Torre’s stint as Yankee manager….but it is time to move on!!

YANKEES 2
BLUE JAYS 3
Tuesday night in Toronto, Joe Torre found yet another way to lose a game, as the Yanks fell to the Blue Jays 3-2. Andy Pettitte pitched brilliantly, but the combination of: errors, bad fielding decisions, quiet bats, and Joe Torre, led to a loss.
Let’s start with the bad managing in the 8th inning. Aside from taking out Andy Pettitte, and not letting him decide the game, Torre made stupid move #2 of the inning by bringing in Proctor. In a situation where the potential winning run is on 3rd base with 1 out, first thing you do as a manager is put in a STRIKEOUT pitcher (because a ground ball or fly ball will score the run). SO..instead of putting in Bruney (who averages over a a K per inning) or Mariano Rivera, he puts in Scott Proctor, who is NOT a strikout pitcher.
Now..on to stupid move #3 of the inning……. any manager in the history of baseball knows to Intentionally Walk the batter (Rios), so that it sets up a Double PLay possibility so that a run doesn’t score…. but Joe Torre pitches to Alex Rios, and he hits a sac fly.
The Yankees also did not help in the field, by making errors, letting a runner steal homeplate, and Alex Rodriguez not letting a bunt roll foul in the 8th. This has to be one of the most frustrating loses I’ve seen in a long time …and it’s time for someone to speak up. If I was Andy Pettitte, I would be highly pissed off at my team for not supporting him whatsoever.
GAME NOTES:
PETTITTE: 7.1 IP, 1 ER, 3 SO

Giambi is thinking about taking a cortisone shot to reduce the pain in his heel, the Yankees’ official site reports. Giambi went 0-for-4 with strikeouts in his last two at-bats on Sunday. “It’s just frustrating right now,” Giambi said. “It’s never-ending over something stupid in your foot. But I’ll do whatever it takes to make it better. [It’s] definitely not fast enough for me and this team.”

Manager Joe Torre has considered using Damon at the DH spot during the series against the Blue Jays beginning on Monday, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. He’ll test his calves prior to game time, which will ultimately play a major role in Torre’s decision. If Damon is in the DH spot, it would likely mean a day or two off for Jason Giambi, who continues to deal with heel problems.
