I figured I would put this post up, to have some fun, and get a good laugh at some “Funny, yet possibly true” comments before the season starts!
If you have any good ones of your own.. please COMMENT!!
This list was sent to me by a friend “Eric Tapout” …
Sooo.. with the ‘07 Season upon is..
What I’m looking forward to most this season:
I cannot wait for Curt Schilling to receive “please retire” chants at Fenway by June.
I cannot wait for the noveltly act of Matsuzaka to wear off in a few weeks when people come to their senses and realize that despite him being able to strike out minor leaguers, he will walk 12 batters in a MLB game.
I cannot wait for Red Sox fans to bitch about the Yankees “buying their players” when they dropped several million to have the rights to negotiate with Matsuzaka who will become about as effective as Chan Ho Park.
I cannot wait for one of the Red Sox starters to get injured so that Papplebon will take the voided spot thinking he can magically pitch a full game only to realize that batters learned how to hit him.
I cannot wait for Eric Gagne to get a headache from wearing his goggles too tight and spend the full season on the DL.
I cannot wait to see Sammy Sosa sitting on The Rangers bench with his boom box.
I cannot wait to see Delmon Young throw a bat at that boom box.
I cannot wait to see The Marlins win the NL East to the response of “how the hell did that happen’ by Mets + Phillies fans. ……… Oh right, pitching.
I cannot wait to see The Red Sox finish last in the AL East to the response of every Yankee fan on the floor in tears from laughing so hard and “wow we’re not last this year” from every Tampa Bay fan..all 10 of them.
I cannot wait to hear the phrase “whoa who the hell is Alex Gordon” at least 50 zillion times this year as he will be the AL’s answer to David Wright by the all star break.
I cannot wait for Barry Bonds to break Hank Aaron’s record to the response of “who cares” by everyone except the Home Shopping Network.
Enjoy the upcoming season…. Remember to COMMENT and ADD your own “things you look forward to…”

The question of who takes control of the Yankees when George Steinbrenner steps down or passes away has been reopened.
George Steinbrenner’s daughter filed divorce papers this week against her husband, Steve Swindal, a move that appears to end his chance to take over as head of the New York Yankees.
In June 2005, Steinbrenner said Swindal eventually would succeed him as head of the Yankees. Swindal currently is a Yankees general partner and chairman of Yankee Global Enterprises LLC. The New York Times, citing a source with direct knowledge of the situation, reported on Wednesday that Steinbrenner now has no intention of promoting Swindal, but removing him from the team altogether could be complicated since he is a partial owner of the club.
“I’m the boss,” Steinbrenner said in a statement issued by Rubenstein. “I continue to be the boss. I have no intention of retiring, and my family runs the Yankees with me.”
Steinbrenner has four children. Son Harold Steinbrenner is executive vice president and treasurer of Yankee Global Enterprises LLC and Hank Steinbrenner is a senior vice president of the team. Felix Lopez, married to daughter Jessica Steinbrenner, is a team senior vice president.
Who knows who will be taking over the Yankees when George is gone... but we can only hope that they are: 1)Willing to spend money to make the Yankees the best team in basbeall and 2)Has the same hatred toward the Red Sox and is willing to be spiteful and block the Sox from making moves every year!!

Tests yesterday revealed no damage to Jeff Karstens’ elbow, as an MRI and CT scan showed his arm to be in sound shape. Joe Torre called it “outstanding news,” though the team has no exact timetable for his return.
“Now it’s just a matter of getting that little irritation out of there,” Torre said. “In a couple of days, we’ll see how he is. It’s a little premature to try to predict that.”
Karstens had been rumored to have the 5th spot in the starting rotation as his spot, but now after this latest injury, it is rumored that Darrell Rasner is now the front-runner for that spot.
It seems like we are updating another Yankee pitching injury everyday on here. Let’s hope this is not a re-occuring theme for the 2007 season!!

Igawa had another strong outing on Monday, allowing one run on three hits while walking a pair and striking out four over five innings of work.
The early spring struggles appear to be behind Igawa, as he’s getting more comfortable in his new surroundings. He’ll begin the season as the No. 4 starter with Chien-ming Wang (hamstring) on the disabled list.

As previously reportes Wang (Hamsting Injury) played long toss from 120 feet on Sunday, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
The Yankees are planning on a late April return for Wang, so Jeff Karstens or Darrell Rasner will begin the season as the team’s No. 5 starter, while Carl Pavano will slot in as the team’s Opening Day starter atop the rotation until Wang returns.

The Yankees will begin the season without the services of ace right-hander Chien-Ming Wang, who suffered a Grade 1 strain of his right hamstring while performing conditioning exercises on Friday.
Wang, who was scheduled to start on opening day, is expected to miss the first 3 weeks of this season. Wang was running sprints following fielding practice at the Yankees’ Legends Field complex when he said he felt a “pop” in his right hamstring. The right-hander was sent for an MRI exam on Friday evening, which revealed the strain.
Aside from the obvious bad news to Yankee fans, that Wang will miss 3 weeks… there is also more to it:
GOOD news: Karstens will most likely join the rotation and get a shot.
BAD News: Early word is that Carl Pavano may be the likely candidate to be the opening day starter.

The Yankees don’t intend to offer Alex Rodriguez a contract extension, leaving him the option of opting out of his deal after the season and becoming a free agent. “Alex has a significant contract. The most significant in baseball history,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday. “He has a decision to make. It’s in his contract. It’s a right he’s earned.”
Under the terms of the deal, Rodriguez can terminate it after this season. He also can stay for 2008 and have the right to opt out of the final two seasons if the Yankees don’t boost his salary to $32 million annually for the final two years.

The wife of late New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle may throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the team’s April 2 season opener against Tampa Bay.
Lidle was killed Oct. 11 when his plane crashed into a Manhattan high rise.
The Yankees said Wednesday that talks were ongoing and that a decision to have Melanie Lidle throw out the ceremonial first pitch had not been finalized.
The Yanks will wear black arm bands on the left sleeves of uniforms this season to honor the pitcher, who was 34. The Yankees acquired Lidle from Philadelphia last summer.
